Antonio, the owner of Mundaca Divers, arrived to the island more than 30 years ago and fell in love with the sea surrounding it. Having been a commercial and industrial diver for Petroleos Mexicanos, he decided to settle in Isla given the amazing opportunities for diving. With almost 40 years of experience diving, Antonio founed Mundaca Divers in 1999 and has since received divers from all over the world.

Every year, Nashville opens its heart to the children of Isla Mujeres in what has become a perfect combination of good times and goodwill. For nearly a decade, The Island Time Music and Fishing Fest has given music lovers and fishing enthusiasts the opportunity to interact with talented writers and performers under the welcoming skies of Mexico’s best kept secret—the island community of Isla Mujeres.
For six days next February, attendees will enjoy world class performances daily in intimate venues across the island, with unparalleled access to the artists. Fishermen will take to the neighboring waters in pursuit of migrating sailfish and top honors in an organized fishing tournament.
Best of all, proceeds from the week’s activities—and the accompanying online auction—benefit the operations of the island’s Little Yellow Schoolhouse and its service to local, special needs children.
All of the proceeds from the Island Time Music Festival & Fishing Tournament go towards the Little Yellow School House, providing services, free of charge, to special needs children on Isla Mujeres.
The Little Yellow School House began with one room and six students and a really big dream. Because of generous donations and the Island Time Fishing Tournament the school now has six classrooms, full-time teachers and over 50 students. The school has a 70% success rate at getting special needs children back into regular school.
Currently, there are still 15 students on the island of Isla Mujeres that cannot attend the school due to a lack of funds. This year we hope to change that with your help!

Do you take people to other cities or just Cancun? We take you almost anywhere! Please click on the other destinations above. Email us for a price if you don’t see your town.
What is the usual tip? I like to tip the driver about like I do a waiter…make it a percentage of the total based on service. Tipping is a personal thing, you can tip as little or much as you want. This is just my suggestion. Basically for Cancun hotels $5 to $10 is a good tip. IF you are traveling further into the Rivera Maya you might want to tip a little more. The drivers know they must earn any tips.

Certified Reef DiveIf you are looking for beautiful hard and soft coral reef formations with numerous fish varieties, including the world famous underwater museum MUSA, then this is the right dive location for you. Suitable to all certification levels.
MUSA (MUSEO SUBACUATICO DE ARTE) is an innovative project designed to counteract the effects of climate change on our oceans and reef systems. This museum is a work-in-progress and located just off the coast of Isla Mujeres. It was formally opened to the public on November 26, 2010 and will ultimately consist of 12 galleries containing nearly 1,364 artificial habitats. The aim is to discharge the accumulated impact of nearly 800,000 visiting tourists each year in the natural reef of the National Marine Park, while increasing overall biomass of the reef system and habitat areas for marine life to colonize.
The project was initiated by Dr. Jaime Gonzalez Cano, local head of Mexico’s Environment and Natural Resources Secretariat (SEMARNAT). Looking for a way to ease the stress on the local reef system without having to close the national underwater park, Dr. Cano reached out to the British sculptor, Jason deCaires Taylor, to collaborate and build one of the largest and most ambitious underwater artificial art attractions in the world. The project became a reality with the collaboration of both the Cancun and Isla Mujeres’ Nautical Associations and other private sector supporters.
To date the underwater museum comprises of; La Evolucion Silenciosa (The Silent Evolution), La Jardinera de la Esperanza (The Garden of Hope), Coleccionista de los Sueños (Dream Collector), Hombre en Llamas (Man on Fire), La promesa (The promise), Inercia (Inertia), Anthropocene, Herencia (Inheritance), and Vacio (Void) — all created by Jason deCaires Taylor.
